It's important to note first that a Baltic porter is a lager, and not an ale. The style can trace its roots to a beer much like our Karass — big, dark, robust & roasty. The English introduced their interpretation of the porter to Eastern European brewers, and the beer was a hit. Brewers all around the Baltic Sea in particular began to ferment the style with lager yeast at lower temperatures. Thus began the Baltic porter.
Today, Baltic porters are a showcase of malt character, and our version is no different: roasted, chocolaty notes are common, sometimes also with a hint of coffee and creaminess. The process of lagering also ensures a clean, crisp finish. Try it today!
